Our baptism calls us to resist evil, oppression, and injustice in whatever form they present themselves and to accept the freedom and power that God gives us to do just that. To that end I am co-organizing a prayer vigil in response to the KKK material that was left at homes in Lee this week. Joining me in this effort are pastors Pat Hubman and Deb Wollaber. It will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of Delta UMC, 6285 Hawkins Corners Road. This is a community event and I encourage you to come and spread the word! We wish to meet the message of hate with a message of love and will focus on shining a light in the darkness. We are asking people not to bring signs, as this isn’t a rally. The vigil will include times of prayer, singing, sharing words of love and light, and lighting of candles. Light refreshments will be served afterward. We’d welcome any donations of refreshments!
