Pastor Brians weekly Update

Hello Rome 1st UMC Family,

I hope all is well with you. We will continue in our Love, Grow, Serve series tomorrow by talking about loving your neighbor. What does it look like to love God and neighbor? How does this look like in your life? I hope to see you tomorrow.

Here is what we have going on at Rome 1st:

  • Graduation Sunday is June 24. We will recognize graduates during worship. Please let us know if you have a student in your family graduating from high school or college by calling the church office at (315) 336-1740 or by emailing church@rome1stumc.org.

  • Are you interested in finding out more about our Camp and Retreat Ministries? Both Casowasco and Aldersgate will hold open houses where you can tour the grounds, do some fun camp things, and meet the staff.

    • Casowasco: Sunday, June 10, 2 to 7 p.m. An optional chicken barbecue will be available – $9 for adults, $6 for children (4-12), and free for children ages three and under. Call (315) 364-8756 to register for the meal.

    • Aldersgate: Saturday, June 16, 2 to 7 p.m. Call (315) 348-8833 or email info@aldersgateny.org for more information.

  • We will hold a congregational/neighborhood picnic June 30 starting at 11:30 a.m. We will have a picnic on the church lawn (or indoors in the case of bad weather). The church will provide hot dogs and beverages. Feel free to contribute anything to compliment the meal. We will set up some fun activities and enjoy some musical entertainment. Call Martha Simonin at (315) 865-6680 or Gwyn Caldwell at (315) 336-4381 for more information.

  • VBS will be held July 22-26. We need volunteers for crafts, games, and meals! It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Court Street this year. Please let Pastor Brian or Deb Weiss know ASAP if you can help.

  • Beginning July 1 our worship time will be 10:00 A.M. for the summer through Labor Day Sunday, September 2. On July 1 we will join with our First Baptist neighbors for worship at their church.

  • Like us on Facebook!

Grace and peace,
-Pastor Brian
